Performance considerations for SUBMARINER.

SUBMARINER was designed to run on a Pentium 133 with Windows95/98™, 32 MB Ram, 4X CD-ROM drive, 16 bit Windows compatible sound card, 16 bit (High Color) 800x600 display. To improve performance with out investing in new hardware, try the following:

Copy the *.dxr and the SUBS.EXE files in the SUBS folder to an empty folder on your hard drive. Then run SUBS.EXE. This will break the links between the sound and QuickTime files. When running SUBS.EXE, the program will not be able to find the missing files and request you provide their location. You can either cancel the operation or browse to your CD-ROM drive to play the movies or music.

Appearance considerations for SUBMARINER.

SUBMARINER will run with a minimum 640x480 screen resolution, however, at this resolution, the text, graphics and movies may look pixilated. To reduce pixilation of SUBMARINER, change your screen resolution to 800x600 or higher. PLEASE consult your Video Card and Monitor documentation to ensure they both support higher screen resolutions in 64K (High Color).

Where are the Video?

Why can't I see the Videos?

If you can not see the Videos, ensure you have Quick Time for Windows (QTW) 4.0 installed. QTW40 is located on the CD-ROM in the QTW4 folder. SUBMARINER is not compatible with earlier versions of QuickTime. For update, please go to www.apple.com.

What is in the Bonus folder?

The BONUS Folder contains a 3D animation of a 688 class submarine in action. The movie was not completed in time for the publication of SUBMARINER. The Bonus AVI uses Intel's INDEO 4.1 CODEC for playback. The Iv5_fltr.EXE (also located in the BONUS folder) is required to be installed for playback.

Why can't I see the "TIRANTE" Movie in the WWII Section?

The "TIRANTE" AVI uses the Intel Indeo 5.1 CODEC to decompress the information located in the AVI. Older versions of Windows may not have it installed. The CODEC can be downloaded here.
